Is it true that teens are having sex less and later than they used to?


There seems to be a natural desire for the news media to make things sound worse than they are. In the New York Times, author Judith Warner discusses how the media likes to make mountains out of molehills. Susan and I know this first hand; when we were interviewed for our book on twentysomethings, producers of TV shows wanted us to talk about how lazy this generation of twenysomethings are. We wouldn't do it and wanted to have a more substantive and nuanced conversation, but it was hard. Bad news sells.

Are You Looking Forward to Your Empty Nest?


So many parents are anxious when their last child leaves for college only to be surprised when they actually enjoy enjoy it. Researchers at Berkeley tracked marital happiness among 72 women and found that empty nesters scored higher on happiness than women who had children living at home. The difference was attributed to relationship satisfaction. This is good news for all those parents who dread the day when they say goodbye to their youngest child. Tara Parker-Pope reports on this in her article in The New York Times .
