Girls Misperceive their Body Image

Connect With Kids has a video that demonstrates how many girls have a distorted body image. It should come as no surprise, but it's worth repeating that many girls see themselves as heavier than they are.
In our new book Too Close For Comfort, we found this subject so important that we include the a chapter on the Impact of Beauty when we discuss the relationship between mothers and adult daughters. Young women are negatively impacted by moms who are dissatisfied with themselves.

Self satisfaction begins at home and family can help build your daughter's self esteem. All we need to do is look at Michael Jackson's intense, pathological dislike of his appearance and we can see the most extreme result of body dysmorphic disorder.
